Carolyn “Cookie” Davis

Carolyn “Cookie” Davis has been with Historic Port Royal since its establishment in 1995.  She served as its President for four terms (eight years) until 2023.   She received her B.A. in History from Mary Washington College in 1965 and her M.A. in Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1976.

She devoted 35 years to education in Caroline County, serving as principal for the last 10 years of her career.  She maintains community ties through her volunteer work with HPR, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the Raritan Club, and other local and state organizations.

Carolyn traces her Port Royal roots as far back as 1734 and remains an active researcher of the area’s history and the genealogy of families and friends of HPR.  She docents at the Port Royal Museum, sits on the Board as Past President, and is a member of the Museum Committee. She is married to John Davis and resides in Port Royal.  She enjoys gardening and floral arranging, visiting with her large family and many friends, traveling, reading, and walks with Jack, the couple’s retriever.
